Germany always has, and to most, still does produce the finest Riesling in the world. With a capability to create styles from bone dry to luscious sweetness - all with great nerve and edge from finely balanced acidity - these are wines to savour. Lively and vibrant in youth, many of these wines are capable of great longevity, and represent wondrous value for money
Alongside Riesling other white varieties are making their mark. Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris from the Pfalz region are interesting, ranging from zingy and refreshing to rich and complex., showing something of a new wave in German winemaking.
If you haven't drunk German wine for a long time (or maybe you have never tried it!), give it a go - or know this: you're missing out!! | |
