Bordeaux - probably the most famous wine producing area in the world crafting red wine from Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc (as well as small amounts of Malbec and Petit Verdot). However, perhaps because of its historically prestigious image (or perhaps the prices commanded), some people are put off drinking Claret. Granted, Bordeaux is not really the region to be looking to if you are after value for money wines, but there are now some very good wines now being produced at the entry level which are made to be drunk young and offer a great introduction to this most celebrated region. Of course we also have a few choice examples of the higher end of the Bordeaux wine scale which we have chosen not for their fame or history, but because we believe they are genuinely delicious and special wines in their own right (not because some influential personality says so.) | |
